Can your fitness enthusiasm survive August ?!

August is here!
Now we all know that in Cyprus, not many things really happen in August—and for good reason! The heat… you can literally cook an egg on the floor. No joke.
Heat is not something to take lightly—but does that mean we stop living a healthy life? I don’t think so. So before you give yourself a 30-day “training holiday,” here are 10 things to try out to stay active without melting into a puddle:

1. Better hydration + electrolytes

Plain water’s great, but sometimes it’s just not enough. Add some sea salt, lemon, or grab an electrolyte mix—your body will thank you, especially when you’re sweating just by blinking.

2. Early morning training routine

Yeah yeah, I know it’s not always easy. But listen—you don’t need to chase PRs at 4am. A 25-minute home workout at 6am followed by a cold shower (or dip in the sea if you’re feeling spicy… swimmers only, don’t blame me) is more than enough to get the day rolling.

3. Sunset walks or light training

Evenings hit different. Use the cooler vibes to go for a walk, stretch, or sneak in a chill training session. Not everything has to be beast mode.

4. Mindful breathing & meditation

Not all gains are physical. Sometimes just slowing down, checking in with yourself, and giving those muscles some love is exactly what your body needs.

5. Light activity: paddleboarding, bodyboarding, etc.

Balance, right? Move a little, have some fun, and enjoy the damn summer. If you’ve got the summer body, great. If not—hey, next year we go again.

6. Cool it down with mobility & stretching

Grab a mat, get on the floor, and just flow through some stretches. Throw on your favourite playlist or podcast and zone out. No pressure, just movement. It counts.

7. Dance like nobody’s watching (seriously)

You don’t need a plan—just press play and move. Whether it’s your kitchen, living room, or balcony, dance like a maniac for 15 minutes and tell me that’s not cardio. Bonus: it puts you in a good mood.

8. Try the “every hour move” challenge

Every hour, do something small. 10 squats, 10 push-ups, a 30-second plank. That’s it. By the end of the day, you’ve snuck in a full-body workout without even thinking about it.

9. Partner workouts (or just a friend to suffer with)

Training in August is more fun when someone’s doing it with you. Grab a buddy, do a low-key session together, then hit the beach or the shade for recovery chats and watermelon.

10. The “bare minimum” workout plan

Some days you won’t feel it, and that’s fine. But make a deal with yourself: 10 minutes, no excuses. Whether it’s a walk, a stretch, or a quick circuit—just show up. That’s how habits stay alive, even in August heat.

Final note:
It’s hot, yes. It’s August, yes. But we’re not made of sugar—we don’t melt that easily. So move a little, rest a little, stay cool, and most importantly… don’t take yourself too seriously. The goal is to feel good, not
